Step-by-step Process

Step 1 — Update Windows

  1. Follow the How to get the latest software and driver updates from Windows guide.

  2. Install additional updates by going to Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options.

Step 2 — Prepare Your Device

  1. Plug your Razer Blade into a wall outlet. Do not run on battery power during this process.

  2. Save all open files and close all programs.

Step 3 — Disable Encryption

Important: Skip to Step 4 if you are not using Device Encryption or BitLocker.

Windows 11 Home

  1. Go to "Settings" > "Privacy & Security" and turn off "Device Encryption".

  2. Wait for decryption to complete, then restart your computer.

Windows 11 Pro

  1. Open Control Panel and navigate to "System and Security" > "BitLocker Drive Encryption".

  2. Locate the drive listed as "BitLocker On" and select "Turn off BitLocker".

  3. Click Decrypt drive and wait for the process to complete.

Important: Decryption can take anywhere from a few minutes to several hours depending on drive size. Do not shut down or disconnect power until decryption is fully complete.

  4. Restart your computer once decryption is finished.

Step 4 — Disable Windows Hello

  1. Open "Settings" and go to "Accounts" > "Sign-in options".

  2. Remove all Windows Hello sign-in methods:

    • Facial Recognition (Windows Hello Face)

    • PIN (Windows Hello PIN)

  3. Enter your current password to confirm removal.

Note: To remove your PIN, you must have another sign-in method already set up. If needed, go to Settings > Accounts > Your info and select Sign in with a local account before removing your PIN.

  4. Restart your computer. If Windows Hello is still active, a warning will appear — resolve this before continuing.

Step 5 — Run the BIOS Updater

  1. Download the latest BIOS Updater.

  2. Launch the installer. If a User Account Control prompt appears, click "Yes".

Important: If the Razer Blade Updater window shows your current version and the target version, do not run Windows Update at this stage.

  3. Click "UPDATE" to begin.

What to expect during the update:

  • Mouse and keyboard control will be temporarily unavailable.

  • If the latest version is already installed, the update will not proceed.

  • A progress bar will show installation status. Do not open other applications during this time.

  • Your Razer Blade will restart several times and boot back into Windows automatically once complete.

Critical: Do not force restart or shut down your Razer Blade at any point during the update process.
