How to transfer data or files from another device or cloud storage to the Razer Phone

This answer will show you how to transfer data or files from another device or cloud storage to the Razer Phone.

If you have an existing device such as an iPhone, another Android phone, computer, or even cloud storage and you want to transfer your files to your Razer Phone, follow the steps provided below.

Having your important files on your Razer Phone is very convenient. This allows you to bring each file to any location via the Razer Phone and work on them when needed even when you are offline such as videos, PDF, or large folders.

Select preferred method

Transfer data or files from an iPhone

Transfer contacts

Method 1: Google Contacts

  1. Set up a Google Account (aka Gmail Account) if not already set up.

  2. On your iPhone, navigate to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.

  3. Tap Add Account > Log into Google Account.

  4. When selecting parts to sync, be sure to select "Contacts".

  5. To check the progress go onto the Google Contacts website.

  6. Once all contacts are synced, set up your Razer Phone using your Google Account. After a few minutes, check the Contacts App to confirm that your contacts have synced.

Method 2: iCloud

  1. On your iPhone, go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Account > iCloud.

  2. Your iPhone should prompt you to merge the contacts of your iPhone with iCloud. Select "Merge".

  3. Navigate to the iCloud website and enter your Apple ID to log in.

  4. Select "Contacts", click on the little wheel on the left bottom corner then tap "Select All".

  5. Tap the wheel again and select "Export as vCard".

  6. Navigate to Gmail > Mail > Contacts.

  7. Click More > Import > Choose File and select your saved vCard file.

  8. If there are duplicates, press the "Find and merge" button under the More tab.

  9. Your contacts should now sync to your phone.

Method 3: iTunes

  1. Plug in an iOS device to your Mac or PC.

  2. Open iTunes.

  3. Tap the phone icon at the top left of the screen.

  4. Open the "Info" tab and press the box next to "Sync Contacts with." Choose "Google Contacts" from the dropdown menu and enter your Google Account info when prompted.

  5. Once the syncing has finished, log into your Google Account on your Android phone via the Settings > Accounts menu and all your contacts should appear within a few minutes.

Transfer photos

  1. Download Google Photos from the Apple App Store.

  2. Sign in with your Google Account.

  3. Go through the setup flow > allow it access to your photos and videos.

  4. Choose to upload with unlimited space rather than using your Google Drive Space.

  5. Allow the photos to upload to the cloud.

  6. Open the Google Photos App on your Razer Phone and go through the setup process again.

  7. Once set up, see your pictures from your iPhone populate.

  8. If you wish to download your pictures to internal storage, select the picture you want and press the three dots on the top left corner. Then press "Download".

  9. All the photos you take on your Razer Phone will be backed up with Google Photos if you want to as well, making it a big gallery. This goes side by side with Razer Phone's Cloud storage feature. They will be backed up to two places.

Transfer iTunes Music to Android

If you use Streaming Services (Spotify, Pandora, Apple Music):

  1. If you already using a streaming service, just download the equivalent of that app from the Google Play Store on your Razer Phone.

  2. Open the app and sign in using your Log-In Details.

Use Google Play Music:

  1. Make sure you have an Internet connection on both your PC or Mac and your Razer Phone.

  2. Go to the Google Play Music website and press the three lines in the top left.

  3. Press the "Upload Music" button and press select from internal storage.

  4. Find the folder which contains all your iTunes music.

  5. Your music will be uploaded to the cloud.

  6. Open the Google Play Music Android app on your Razer Phone and press the "Music Library" tab.

  7. Your songs should be there.

  8. To download the songs to your internal storage, press the white, round icon with a downward-pointing arrow. Once pressed, the icon should start loading, an indication that the download is starting.

  9. Use Google Play Music as your music app.

Copy the files manually:

  1. Connect your Razer Phone to your PC or Mac via a USB Cable (You will need to download Android File Transfer).

  2. Open your Razer Phone's internal storage and find the music folder.

  3. On your PC or Mac, find your iTunes folder that stored all your music.

  4. Drag the music you want from that iTunes folder to the Music folder on your Razer Phone.

  5. Once the transfer is finished, look in the music folder of your Razer Phone.

  6. The music should have been transferred and should now be in your music app of choice.

Transfer files via Google Drive

Note: Ensure you are connected to a stable Wi-Fi connection and you are logged in to your Google account (How to set up a Google account on the Razer Phone).

To upload your files to Google Drive:

  1. Open the Google Drive App.

  2. Tap the plus icon, then tap "Upload".

  3. Select the file you wish to upload. To upload multiple files, hold one file then tap the other files. Once you've selected all files, tap "OPEN".

    Note: Uploading may take a few moments to finish.

  4. After you are done uploading, you will see your files in My Drive.

To download your files from Google Drive:

  1. Go to Google Drive app.

  2. Select the files you wish to download. To download multiple files, hold one file then tap the other files.

  3. After you are done selecting the files, tap the download icon.

  4. After you are done downloading, you will see your files in "Downloads".

Transfer files from another Android phone

  1. Connect your Razer Phone to the internet. We recommend you connect via Wi-Fi to prevent Cellular Data charges.

  2. Sign up your Google account on both the Android phone and the Razer Phone (see How to set up a Google account on the Razer Phone).

  3. Upload the files you wish to transfer from your Android Phone to Google Drive (see How to transfer files between Google Drive and the Razer phone).

  4. As long as you are connected online, you will have complete access to your files on Google Drive.

  5. If you wish to have access to your file even while offline, you can download the files to your Razer Phone (see How to transfer files between Google Drive and the Razer phone).

Transfer files from a computer

For Android Oreo

The instructions directly below apply to the Razer Phone with the Oreo installed. For steps that apply to the older Nougat OS, click here. If you do not know the version of your Android OS, refer to  How to determine the version of the Android OS on the Razer Phone.

There are two ways to transfer files from your computer to your Razer Phone.

Via USB-C Thunderbolt

Note: If your computer does not have a USB-C Thunderbolt port, you can purchase a USB-C to USB adapter.

  1. Connect your Razer Phone to your PC via the included USB-C Thunderbolt 3 cable.

  2. On your Razer Phone, tap the notification  "Android System - USB for file transfer".

  3. Select "Transfer files" to give your computer access to the files on your Razer Phone. If MTP is not supported, select "Transfer photos (PTP)".

  4. Open This PC > Phone > Internal Shared Storage. You will have access to the files or folders inside your Phone storage.

  5. You can now transfer files/folders between your computer and Razer Phone.

  6. After you're finished transferring files, safely remove your Razer Phone.

Via Google Drive

  1. On your computer, sign in to Google Drive.

  2. Click "My Drive". Select "Upload files" to upload files or "Upload folder" to upload an entire folder.

  3. Select the files or folder you wish to upload, then click "OK".

  4. Once you've successfully uploaded your files, you will see them on your My Drive.

  5. On your Razer Phone, open the Google Drive app and download the files you wish to save on your Razer Phone (see How to transfer files between Google Drive and the Razer phone.

For Android Nougat

The instructions directly below apply to the Razer Phone with Nougat installed. For instructions that apply to the new Oreo OS, click here. If you do not know the version of your Android OS, refer to  How to determine the version of the Android OS on the Razer Phone.

There are two ways to transfer files from your computer to your Razer Phone.

Via USB-C Thunderbolt

Note: If your computer does not have a USB-C Thunderbolt port, you can purchase a USB-C to USB adapter.
