Razer strives in providing you with services that are safe and secure. In using your Razer ID, you can make it more secure by setting up a 2-Step Authenticator.
2-Step Authentication is fundamentally an extra layer of security meant to give additional protection to your Razer arsenal and to set it up, you will need your mobile phone.
By prompting an OTP whenever you log in, it makes sure that it is you accessing your account and not someone trying to use your Razer ID. You will be also prompted for an OTP whenever you try to access sensitive information while your Razer ID page is locked. Sensitive information includes email, password, billing address, recovery email, app authorizations, account deletions, social connections, and any Razer Silver or Razer Gold transactions.
There are two methods supported currently: Text Message and Authenticator App. We recommend using the Authentication App as it is more reliable than Text Message and it does not require data connectivity to function. Keep checking back though as we are planning to have more options in the future.
Here are the examples of authenticators that you can use:
- Google Authenticator
- Microsoft Authenticator
- Authy
- Duo Mobile
To add a layer of security, see How to set up an Authenticator App for Razer ID.
You also have the option to set up multiple 2-Step Authentication methods, giving you a fail-safe system for accessing your Razer ID. For example, when you do not have signal coverage and are unable to receive the text message, you can still use another method to access your account like the Duo Mobile app.
For a lost 2-Step Authentication device, fret not, we got you covered. You can try any of the following methods:
- If you have access to an alternative device that has been authorized with 2-Step Authentication, you can use it to reset your 2-Step Authentication.
- If you have your backup codes, you can use them to log in and reset your 2-Step Authentication or manage your account.
If you still have access to your primary and recovery email, you can contact Razer Support to get help on recovering your account.
