Below are the steps to resolve lines and bright or dark spots on the display of your Razer Blade laptop.
-
Ensure Windows is up to date. See How to get the latest software and driver updates from Windows.
If you just updated Windows, please install the "Optional updates" under Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options.
-
Assess if the damage is caused by a software or hardware issue.
-
Conduct a pixel test and look for any bright or dark spots.
Note: Any bright or dark spots that appear while testing indicates that the pixel is physically defective.
If pixel issues only appear when using certain applications, do the following:
-
Restart the device then check if the issue is still present.
-
Adjust your screen resolution to match the screen resolution of the game or application.
-
Ensure your graphics driver is up to date.
Important: Install graphics driver updates that are made available only via Windows Update.
-
Reinstall the updated graphics driver then check the device again. This is to eliminate the possibility of a corrupt installation.
-
Perform a system recovery or factory reset.
If the pixel test failed or you are noticing screen issues listed below, a hardware issue is most likely the cause.
- Black splotches or blotches with bright white areas exposed
- Black splotches cutting through the screen
- Broken glass
- Diagonal or jagged lines
- Horizontal and vertical lines
- Noticeable discoloration in the screen
- White spots or discoloration in localized areas
