| Answer ID: 3801

This article shows how to fix the built-in webcam on a Razer Blade when it is not detected or does not work in an app.

A built-in camera on the Razer Blade that is not detected or not working is mostly caused by software issues or hardware issues. Follow these steps to resolve this issue.

You can view the video below for instructions or review a copy of the video transcript.

Step-by-step process:

  1. Ensure Windows is up to date. See How to get the latest software and driver updates from Windows.

If you just updated Windows, please install the "Optional updates" under Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options.

  2. After the update, restart your Razer Blade and check if your camera has been detected.

  3. If the issue persists, verify that your apps have permission to use your camera.

    1. Go to "Settings" > "Privacy" > "Camera".

    2. Under "Allow Access to the camera on this device", ensure that the "Camera access for this device is on".

Check that the Camera access for this device is on

  4. Scroll down and confirm that your Microsoft Store app has access to the camera.

Check the Microsoft Store app if it has access to the camera

  5. For other apps, ensure that the "Allow desktop apps to access your camera" is turned on.

Ensure that the Allow desktop apps to access your camera is turned on

If your camera is still not detected, reinstall your driver.

  1. Go to "Device Manager".

  2. Locate and right-click on your camera, then select "Uninstall".

Right-click on your camera, then select Uninstall

  3. Follow the on-screen instructions and complete the uninstallation process.

    Click Uninstall

  4. After the uninstallation is complete, go back to "Device Manager".

  5. Select "Action" > "Scan for hardware changes".

This process takes a few moments to detect and install the driver for your camera.

If your camera is detected but does not work properly, check the device in Device Manager.

  1. Go to Start > Device Manager. Under “Device Manager”, select and expand “Cameras”.

    Click Device Manager

    Select USB Camera

  2. Right-click “USB Camera” and do the following:
    • Enable the device if it is currently disabled.

    • Disable the device if it is currently enabled, restart the Razer Blade, then re-enable the device again.

    • Update Driver Software to check for updates.

If the camera works but not in a video-calling app, make sure you have the latest version of the app and that “USB Camera” is selected as the camera in the app’s audio and video settings. If the camera still does not work in the app, contact the app’s support for additional assistance.
