The Speaker “Realtek(R) Audio Codec with THX Spatial Audio” does not appear under Device Manager

This article provides troubleshooting steps when the speaker is not detected in the device manager.

 

There may be instances that the speaker (Realtek(R) Audio Codec with THX Spatial Audio) is no longer detected under Device Manager. These instances may be any of the following:

  • After resetting the PC via Windows

  • After changing SSD and reinstalling Windows via installation media from Windows

If you encounter this issue, perform the steps below:

  1. Ensure Windows is up to date. See How to get the latest software and driver updates from Windows.

    If you just updated Windows, please install the "Optional updates" under Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options.

  2. Perform a system reset by pressing the F9 key when booting up your system.
