Pixel defects
Pixel defects can be classified into two types:
-
Full pixel defect – a bright white or black dot that is very noticeable
-
Sub-pixel defect – a bright colored dot in red, green, or blue that displays permanently on the monitor. It can also be a black dot that appears on the monitor all the time.
Note: Other types of defects can also be discovered and would appear as dark stains that affect pixels or sub-pixels. This is caused by very tiny impurities that can enter during production.
Reporting a dead pixel
When reporting a problem with dead pixels on your Razer laptop or monitor, you need to take a picture and send it together with the report. Do the following steps to properly document the issue:
-
Run a display test to properly spot the dead pixels. You can use any free tool online such as the Dead Pixel Checker from Microsoft.
-
Use different color backgrounds within the tool like White, Black, Red, Green, and Blue to better identify the dead pixel.

-
Move the mouse pointer near the dead pixel you have spotted and take a picture as shown below.
