Razer Blade displays showing flickering, blotching, discoloration, or inconsistent brightness require verification of hardware condition before software troubleshooting. Testing an external display and running a pixel test identifies physical defects and prevents unnecessary driver reinstalls.

Follow the detailed instructions below to resolve Razer Blade display issues.
Troubleshooting steps
Step 1: Rule out a hardware defect
-
Connect an external monitor to the Razer Blade using HDMI. If the flickering, blotching, or discoloration appears on the external display as well, the issue is likely hardware-related rather than the built-in panel.
-
Perform a pixel test and check for defective pixels. A pixel that remains dead or continues flickering after the test indicates a physical defect.
Check: Is this a hardware issue? If "Yes", contact Razer Support for a repair. If "No", continue to the next step.
Step 2: Update BIOS and Windows
-
Go to the Razer Support page for the Razer Blade model.
-
Click "Drivers & Downloads" and install the latest BIOS update.
-
Update Windows. See How to update your Razer Blade's Windows OS for details. If Windows was just updated, also install the "Optional updates" under Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options.
-
Restart the Razer Blade.
Check: Is the issue resolved? If "Yes", the process is complete. If "No", continue to the next step.
Step 3: Adjust resolution and graphics drivers
-
Set the screen resolution to match the resolution used by the affected game or application.
-
Roll back the GPU driver through Windows Update. See How to roll back GPU drivers via Windows Update for details.
-
Reinstall the latest graphics driver.
Check: Is the issue resolved? If "Yes", the process is complete. If "No", continue to the next step.
Step 4: Additional steps for inconsistent brightness
Apply this section only if the issue is inconsistent brightness. Skip it if the issue is flickering, blotching, or discoloration.
-
Open Device Manager.
-
Select and expand "Monitors".

-
Right-click "Generic PnP Monitor" and select "Uninstall device".

-
Click "Scan for hardware changes".

-
Check the Razer Blade display for the issue.
Check: Is the issue resolved? If "Yes", the process is complete. If "No", continue to the next step.
Step 5: Last resort - System recovery
If the issue persists after all preceding steps, perform a system recovery or factory reset, then repeat the BIOS, Windows, driver, and brightness steps above. A system recovery returns the Razer Blade to factory settings. Back up all files before starting.
