Power indicator is blinking while my Razer Blade is in sleep mode

| Answer ID: 6005
This answer will explain why the power indicator is blinking with the fans running or not while in sleep mode with modern standby.

Newer Razer Blade and Razer Book models now utilize the "Modern Standby" feature. It allows some applications to continue running in the background while the system is in sleep mode.

Traditionally, system fans automatically turn off when you put your system to sleep. With Modern Standby, the system fans will continue spinning and consume power even when the screen is turned off to ensure proper cooling.

Note: To enter sleep mode faster, close all open apps and ensure all Windows updates are completed.

When the system goes to sleep, the Razer laptop’s LED behavior will be:

  • Blinking green with the fans spinning when the system receives notifications or a background task like Windows Update is running. Unless these processes take place, the behavior generally lasts for not more than 30 minutes.
  • Blinking white when tasks are completed, or none is running in the background.

Note: When the device wakes up from sleep mode, you will notice a lower battery level or battery drain due to this behavior.

Do the following actions to preserve the system battery:

  1. Close unused applications

  2. Ensure Windows is up to date. See How to get the latest software and driver updates from Windows.

If you just updated Windows, please install the "Optional updates" under Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options.

  3. Use hibernate mode than sleep mode

  4. Completely shut down your system when not in use
