USB ports or devices that are not working on your Razer Blade can be caused by the device itself, the cable, outdated software, or a hardware issue. Start with the basic checks below, then select the issue you are experiencing.
Basic checks
-
Ensure that the issue is not caused by the accessory being connected.
-
Connect the device to another computer to see if it is functional.
-
If the device behaves normally while connected to this alternate computer, the port on your Razer Blade might be broken.
-
-
If the issue persists, or you are experiencing an intermittent connection, swap out the USB cable and test if the accessory is functional.
-
Connect the device to a different USB port on your Razer Blade.
-
Ensure that your drivers are updated. See How to get the latest software and driver updates from Windows for more details.

USB device is not recognized (Unknown USB Device)
The USB device descriptor contains information about a USB device and is used by the client driver and by Windows OS to recognize the USB devices. If the USB device is not recognized by the OS, these are the error messages that can appear:
- "USB device not recognized. The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it."
- "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and Windows does not recognize it."
The Device Manager will show under Universal Serial Bus controllers an “Unknown USB Device (Device Descriptor Request Failed)" with a yellow exclamation point.

The Device status in your device properties will contain "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43). A request for the USB device descriptor failed."

The possible causes of this issue are the following:
- The USB device plugged in is unstable or corrupted
