| Answer ID: 9712
This answer explains why the Razer Blade shuts down, loses video, or enters hibernation or sleep mode near magnetic objects.

Magnetic objects trigger the Hall effect sensor on the Razer Blade laptops. This sensor’s main function is to move the display to the connected external monitor and turn off the Razer Blade’s internal display.

The Hall sensor, when triggered by magnetic objects, is sometimes responsible for the following issues:

  • random shutdowns

  • random hibernate or sleep mode

  • random loss of video or display

  • external monitors randomly turns on

The most common magnetic items are the following:

  • mobile devices, tablets, or laptops

  • electronic devices

  • magnetic pens

  • magnetic medical bracelets or jewelry

Keep your Razer Blade laptop away from magnetic objects or electronic devices to not trigger the Hall sensor and avoid random issues.
