| Answer ID: 1975
This article will guide you on how to reduce the fan noise from your Razer Blade laptop.

Step-by-step process

Note: For the Razer Blade 14” Intel 6700HQ (2016) | RZ09-01952, download the firmware updater and follow onscreen instructions.

  1. Ensure Windows is up to date. See How to get the latest software and driver updates from Windows.

If you just updated Windows, please install the "Optional updates" under Settings > Windows Update > Advanced options.

  2. Update your graphics drivers. Your device may have either or both Intel and NVIDIA graphics drivers installed. Consult your product manual for more information.

  3. Keep your laptop's air vents clean and clear from obstructions. Rest your device on solid flat surfaces to maximize airflow along the vents.

  4. Use canned air to dislodge any dust buildup that may be clogging the vents.

  5. Differentiate between fan noise and other noise.

    1. Open Razer Synapse and go to "PERFORMANCE".
    2. Select Balanced Mode.

    3. Set the Fan Speed to Manual and lower the fan speed to low.
    4. Check if the noise still exists.
  6. Adjust the fan speed via Razer Synapse. Not all Razer Blade models allow the option to control fan speed. Different models may have different fan control options.

Note: Lowering the fan speed may result in higher temperatures. For detailed instructions, check out How to adjust the fan speed on the Razer Blade.

  7. Reduce system load by closing applications that you are not using. Remember to save any unsaved work in those programs.

  8. Close any suspicious processes that may be slowing your system via Start Menu > Task Manager > Processes. Right-click on any suspicious process and select “End task”.
