How to program buttons on a Razer mouse to default commands

This answer provides instructions on how to revert Razer mouse buttons to default commands.

Effective February 3, 2026, Razer Synapse 3 will no longer receive updates or support cloud services. After this date, cloud syncing of configurations across PCs using the same Razer ID will be disabled.

Note: Your installed devices will continue to be configurable in Razer Synapse 3. However, if you uninstall these devices completely, you will need to upgrade to Razer Synapse 4 to continue customization.

Razer mice come with the Cycle Up/Down Sensitivity Stages, a feature that allows you to cycle up or down the dots-per-inch (DPI) stages via your mouse.

  • Cycle Up Sensitivity Stages allows you to cycle up sensitivity stages. Once you reach the maximum DPI, you will go to the lowest DPI in the next press
  • Cycle Down Sensitivity Stages allows you to cycle down sensitivity stages. Once you reach the lowest DPI, you will go to the highest DPI in the next press.

Program mouse buttons to default commands

  1. Launch Razer Synapse 4.

  2. Select your mouse from the DASHBOARD.

  3. Select a button you want to customize.

  4. Click “DEFAULT”.

  5. Click “SAVE”.

    Note: Keep Razer Synapse running in the background to use this function.

    The device layout of your mouse should reflect the changes made.

Disable pre-programmed buttons

  1. Launch Razer Synapse 4.

  2. Select your mouse from the DASHBOARD.

  3. Select a button you want to disable.

  4. Click “DISABLE”.

  5. Click “SAVE” to complete the process.

    Note: Keep Razer Synapse running in the background to use this function.

    The button will appear with “Disable” on the device layout.

Program mouse buttons to default commands

  1. Open Razer Synapse.

  2. Click on the Razer mouse.

  3. Go to the “CUSTOMIZE” tab.

  4. Click on the button you wish to set to default commands to.

  5. Click on “DEFAULT”.

  6. Click “SAVE” to complete the process. The button will appear with the default name “Mouse Button #”.

  1. Open Razer Synapse.

  2. Click on the Razer mouse.

  3. Go to the “CUSTOMIZE” tab.

  4. Click on the button you wish to disable pre-programmed commands.

  6. Click “SAVE” to complete the process. The button will appear with “Disable” on the device layout.
