Tips for gaming and working from home

This article shows tips for gaming and working from home.

Recent trends has shown more people working and gaming from home. Whether you’re an occasional gamer preparing to put more hours into grind sessions or an office worker in transition to working from home, this guide is for you.

Ergonomics

First, we recommend you get as comfortable as possible. However, this doesn’t mean staying in bed, with your laptop propped on your pillow or your lap. While this may seem comfortable for a while, this may cause your laptop to overheat as the soft surface of your pillow may block the vents of your device.

Instead, try to find a conducive place to work with ample lighting and ventilation. Preferably, find a flat table where your laptop’s vents can receive and release air effectively, and a comfortable chair where you can adjust your posture to suit your comfort in different times of the day. Your laptop will always be hotter than the ambient temperature of your room, so try to keep the room that you’re working in as cool as possible.

If an ergonomic gaming or office chair is not available, try to find one with some padding in both the back support and the seat.

Once you’ve setup your table and chair, adjust the angle of your screen. If you are using a Razer Blade laptop or the Razer Raptor 27, you may adjust your viewing angle by simply tilting the screen to your preferred angle. There is no one way to do this so we recommend adjusting for comfort in different times of the day.

Clean your devices

It’s always a good idea to keep your devices clean and sanitary. Razer products are built to last and require very little maintenance. However, we recommend cleaning your devices with a lint-free microfiber cloth and an alcohol-based solution. Take care not to use excess moisture. We recommend at least 70% isopropyl alcohol for effective disinfection and because it evaporates quickly.

Learn to troubleshoot

One of the drawbacks to working from home is not having any on-site maintenance staff available to fix any issues that may crop up at any time. At Razer, we display Frequently Asked Questions, Troubleshooting Guides, and other pertinent information under each product. You search for your product at our Support Site and access your device’s information.

Keep moving

Because you’re no longer travelling everyday to go to work, your mobility is severely limited. This drastic decrease in activity will cause health problems in the long run. It can be tempting to sit all day and plunge yourself into gaming or work. However, we encourage you to take a break occasionally. Make an effort to put in some exercise in between gaming sessions or work shifts to keep your body in tip-top shape.
